RehabCare operates a wide variety of responsive health and social care services which reach into communities the length and breadth of Ireland. Each year more than 4,500 people of all ages and from all walks of life avail of these services which range from resource centre activities to support provided to individuals within their own homes.
The majority of our services are funded by the Health Service Executive (HSE). Access to services depends both on the services available in your area and the procedures of your local health service. The people who currently use our services include young people and adults with physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities, people with mental health difficulties, people with autism and people with an acquired brain injury. A range of essential services are also provided to older people, carers and others who are marginalised.
We provide services for people with varying levels of disability and the services are designed around the individual person’s needs.
Resource Centres are designed to provide services for persons aged between 18 and 65.
Yes. RehabCare provides various models of respite to children and adults, with varying needs, depending on location.
RehabCare’s centre-based respite care services afford many people with disabilities their only opportunity to take a holiday while at the same time providing the families/carers with a break from fulltime caring. The presence of a respite service is key in helping the individual remain in the family home for as long as possible.
The philosophy of our centre-based services is to provide a home from home setting, making it an enjoyable and relaxed time for the individual in an environment where the family can be confident that their family member’s needs are being well catered for.
The duration of respite is dependant on the individual’s circumstances.
Supported Accommodation provides a safe home environment for people of all ages who have a disability or are marginalised. The accommodation provides both security and a sense of place for tenants, and housing and support relief for their families.
The accommodation, which can be on a permanent and/or longer term transitional basis, is in a community based setting. The accommodation is a person’s home, a place where they can live as independently as possible, either on their own or with others.
This service assists clients primarily with a range of household tasks.RehabCare provides a range of support services which enable a significant number of people to continue living at home, with appropriate support and assistance from trained Home Support Workers. RehabCare are renowned for our flexibility, ensuring that the needs of service users are fully taken into account at all times, including unsociable hours and at weekends.
Our home-bases respite care services are designed to give temporary relief from the rigours of round-the-clock caring both on a planned and an emergency basis.
The client receives assistance/support with all activities of daily living whilst in their own environment. The primary carer has an opportunity to take a break.
